Water damaged wall with brick veneer exterior
Termite and water damage to my dining room wall which has a clay brick exterior wall.
Ninety days after having my house thoroughly treated for termites I started pulling down sections of sheet rock to investigate the extent of the termite damage. There was no visible damage to the exposed sides of the sheet rock, but when removed I found large sections of missing and rotten fiberboard with the brick wall exposed. Many of the brick ties and anchors that previously secured the brick wall to the sheathing were hanging in a rusted and useless condition. I would obviously like to avoid the expense of removing the old and reinstalling a new brick wall, but I haven’t been able to come up with an alternative. I’ve had two “carpenters” give estimates on repairing the interior, and neither mentioned the need to secure the brick wall. My last and most recent “discussion” was with someone who first brought up the need to demo the brick wall and go with a new brick wall prior to any inside framing. His estimate is pending.
Any suggestions?
The house is on concrete slab. The top and bottom plates of the framing look solid, as does the studs around the window. The outside surface area of the brick wall is approximately 12 feet x 12 feet (144 square feet) but this area includes a 3 section “picture window” with a surface area of about 47 square feet.
Anyone care to venture a guess on what the expense will be to demo and re-brick this wall?

Definitely get that pending estimate and see what the expert says. Cost can vary a lot depending on your location and the extent of the damage.
