I HAVE A GAS WATER HEATER AND AM ON A WELL I LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF N.C. AN THE WATER IS HARD THE WATER HEATER MAKES A LOUD PINGING POPPING NOISE WHEN FUNNING AND SOME WHEN NOT RUNNING. I HAVE TRIED DRAINING THE WATERHEATER BUT MADE NO CHANGE NOW THE WATERHEATER ON THE MAIN LEVEL IS DOING THE SAME IS THERE ANY REMEDY SUCH AS ADDATIVES OR OTHE I CHANGE THE FILTER MONTHLY

At the top of the screen you will see a toolbar that says 'breaktime'. Cut and paste your message in a new thread over there under 'Energy, heating , insulation' and you will get a bunch of responses.

A water softener would help. Filters will not do anything about hardness.
