Replaced my well’s leaking yard hydrant with a new 2ft proplumber hydrant from Lowe’s. Since the replacement I’ve had a significant loss in water pressure in my house. Tub now fills at a snails pace, hardly enough pressure to rinse my hair in a shower, & faucets will turn to a trickle after flushing the toilet. I’m a novice and also new to owning a home with a well. Any basics to check/try before finding a pro to make the trek out? Thanks

Just to be sure, you must have turned the water off to do the replacement, did you shut the main valve off? If so, are you sure you turned it all the way back on?
Yes, I did make sure it was all the way back on. I also checked pressure tank valve and lines for leaks. I have a water system so I even changed my sediment filter in case that was the issue.
is the hydrant hooked up directly at the well?
Does the water for the house come through the same place?
Might want to go back and re-check the exact fittings you removed and re-installed.
It is possible that you pinched a water line while digging, or have a gasket out of place, or the replacement yard hydrant is different in a way from the original that is the source of your issue.
there is a good probability that some rust, scale or other build-up in your system broke loose and is now blocking flow. It could be in a valve or fitting somewhere in your main line. Start by removing the new fitting you put in, turn the water back on for a minute and see if some junk comes out. If flow is good there you will need to come up with a way to back flush from your house to that point. Good luck.
