   Could you hang a corrugated metal roof (or similar)under the deck?

   I have a garage and adjacent screened porch, both built over heated basement space below.  The garage floor is concrete and the porch is wood frame with plywood deck.  I wanted both to be waterproof forever, and used a deck coating system from either Sika or Sonneborn, I forget which, but both make competing products.  Substrate can be plywood or concrete.  System consists of moisture-curing liquid films, a primer and a topcoat, both of which go on with a notched squeegee at 40 mils wet, then backrolled with a longstick roller.  We sprinkled granulated rubber particles, sort of looking like black sand, into the topcoat after squeegeeing and before backrolling, to impart a texturized walking and drive-on surface.  It's perfect!  Typical commercial use for these products is as floor coating for elevated parking garages and outdoor balconies.  Go to their websites and look at specs for deck coatings.  Good luck!

   Thanks Gene about the waterpfoof idea.Can you use this product over 5/4 or put 1/4 in. plywood over that?Or do you need treated plywood?Or just CDX or what?

   I would use plywood.  We did here, using exterior wood glue type with no voids.  Consider also filling your joints with sealant compatable with the coating, so your joints don't show.  It is really just a super elastic paint you are putting down, and it won't bridge cracks.  It will stretch to cover microcracks and movement afterward, though.
