Way to lock sliding patio door from inside?

I’ve been asked to find a way to lock an Andersen sliding patio door from the inside. Grandparents are looking for a way to prevent an autistic child from getting outside in the early morning when he comes to visit.
The broomstick stub jammed in the door track doesn’t work anymore since he’s figured-out how to remove it.
The grandparents are looking for a lockable solution that won’t disfigure the door or the frame for the few times a year that it’s needed.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Presumably the kid has also figured out the thumb lever lock?
Simplest thing is to drill a small hole through both sashes up at about 6 feet and insert a rod. (Caution: Care must be exercised to not nick the glass inserts when you drill, and some sashes may not have enough "meat" to allow this.)
There is also this style latch:

You apparently fasten one side to the face of the jamb an the other side to the sliding panel.
