I was hoping someone out there could help me find some weather stripping. I am looking to replace the stuff in the old exterior doors on the house and can’t find anything like it at the big box places now that they have sent all the decent places out of business.
The stuff on there now is a light gauge metal strip, about 1.25″wide folded on itself and mounted on the jambs of the door, top and sides so when the door closes it compresses the strip to seal out draft.
Does anyone know the actual name of the stuff, and where or if it is still available?
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Here some common styles.

Hey, thanks guys, that is the stuff I'm looking for. Now I know where to get it. Appreciate the help.Andy"It seemed like a good idea at the time"
Hey Andy, I bought a bunch years ago for a project and I have several packages left over. If you want to reimburse me for sending it to you I'll be happy to part with it. Let me know how much you need, I think it comes packaged for a standard door and I've got four or five packages.LeeMontanaFest
Bullseye! I have 4 exterior doors I want to do. If you want to part with all you have I'll do a door at my parents house too. Where are you located? I am in Wappingers Falls NY. (Poughkeepsie area)I would be glad to pay you what you paid as well.Andy"It seemed like a good idea at the time"

Jeez, I had a shop in Saugerties about 15 years ago..., did a lot of work down Bedford way.Okay, I've got 5 packages intact. A package includes 17 feet of the bronze stripping and nails. (plenty for a 3/0, 6/8 door) I've got one package I must have snitched the nails from and a few feet of leftover stripping. It's Pemco spring bronze weather stripping.Send me your mailing address and I'll send them out on Monday, Once I know the mailing costs I'll let you know and you can stick a check in the mail.Heh, heh, he..., these are well travelled, they came from Kingston, they'll be happy to be back home.LeeMontanaFest

I should have another saved in my favorites. I ran into the same problem coupla months ago ... ended up using the "strip" instead of the V-fold. Looks to have worked OK ... would have rather used the old stuff I was looking for.
no one around me caried the real stuff anymore. Old hardware store guy told me they stopped ordering it because they coudn't get shipments in without it all being bent up.
was given a list of online place my the nice folks here ... hopefully more will chime in ... I'll try another un thru the saved fav's.

I used to install interlocking weatherstripping in the old houses along the Hudson and got my supplies from Accurate Weatherstripping in Mt. Vernon NY. It's the actual factory. I haven't done a search but you might try. They sell the full line of every type of metal weatherstripping that's made. Nothing is better or lasts longer.
