Are you real savvy about web page publishing as it might be used for a weblog?
I have in mind an application, a weblog that tracks the construction of a house, so that the clients can readily see what’s happening. They are building a house a long way from where they will live while the place is being built.
I understand that a good way to get the photos at the log is through the use of a site like FLICKR, a photo sharing site.
Any advice on how I should proceed?

Setting up a blog is really easy. Just go to Blogger and open an account, they have templates and walk you through each step.
You can set your options so that your blog isn't listed in their directory, then send your client the URL and, though anyone will be able to view it, realistically only those people to whom you give the URL will see it.
Easy to upload pictures. Add posts. Etc.

I tried to set one up ME...someone already stole my name.

Warning! Be cautious when taking any framing advice from me. There are some in here who think I'm a hackmeister...they might be right! Of course, they might be wrong too!
Hackmeister's Daily Journal is taken?

I don't know what I will do with it, but I've now got one. I have a feeling I'll get spammed to death!

i am new to this . what is a blog ? i want to enjoy discussions with other woodworkers but i just dont understand how to do this can you help?
well, to enjoy discussions with other woodworkers, you're in the right spot. Stick around here and click on any thread that interests you. You might also want to check out Knots, the forum for Fine Woodworking Magazine.
A Blog is like an electronic diary, stored on the internet. The original question on this thread concerned using a blog to communicate the progress of a project to a client. Blogger is a free service that you can use to publish a blog without having a lot of technical computer knowledge.

I wouldn't worry about Blogs right now. I'm not sure how you got here or how you found this topic, but a "thread" is an item in the list on the left of your screen.
Click on the topics that you think would be interesting. Don't worry about being new to computers, just explore and soon enough you'll figure things out.
