Well, the time has come to share with all you guys that have helped up build the Money Pit on the hill. The locals thinks its the mansion on the hill, we know different.
Due to weather last year we had to cap it at the subfloor. We typared and tarped for the winter and prayed for a warm winter and not much snow.No such luck. DH ended up clearing 2-1/2ft of snow and ice off the floor, almost killed him. But he survived . You know… you have no friends when you are building, everyone you know is busy every weekend and cannot commit to anything that involves “labour”. They don’t even phone you until November. We were fortunate to have one friend that couldhelp out once in a while. I have become the “other Guy”, the estimator, purchaser, gofer, grunt worker, lifter, and general person to give Sh.t to when anything went wrong. Other wise known as the “wife”. I have learned to appreciate a good pair of work gloves and do not think for one minute that it would be great to be a “guy”. doing “guy things”.
When we were shovelling the 22 tons of gravel that came in to fill in the perimiter and interior trenches I was really feeling sorry for men. At least I knew I could quite and go make lunch or do the dishe’s or something else girly.
Anyway, Dh built the walls in April, we lifted them the end of April, roofed it in May and just finished putting the windows and doors in last month. Interior walls are being built next weekend, soffits and eaves are going in at the end of the month. Then we are closed for the season.
Its been fun hard work and your input was always taken . good work you forum guys with endless information .We couldn’t have done it without you. From day one you guys have been guiding me with your answers and knowledge.
