Anyone know how much a 1 3/4” x 18″ lvl weighs per lin. ft?
I did some poking around and couldn’t find anything.
Your help is appreciated!
Eric

All I have is a wildass guess.
I moved two LVLs 1-3/4" x 9-1/4" x 30' long today. I'm guessing 150# each, max. That would work out to maybe 5#/foot. Yours are twice as tall and would weigh twice as much.
Trying to figure out how many guys it will take to place them?

Did you put one on each shoulder or did you put both together and carry them on one shoulder.........;-)

Your in big trouble now my young friend. Experienced ,Yes, too old, I don't think so. He's probably stronger then you......;-)
My old boss is still framing and has to be about 72 now and still carries beams and is strong as a bull, why, because he still likes too.

Oiy!
if it had been thurday PM it would have felt more like seven pounds instead of five.
Turns out, it was 4.4#/ln ft.
The 18" one is 8.4# per lineal foot.

Pif,
You were just about right on for the weight!
Mine are 1 3/4" x 18" x 28 ft x 6 pieces. (3 to a side) 235# each!!
They're up! Thanks to my Pop-eye legs and my 20 yr. old son.
They span a 24' deep three car garage (2' Canti) x 36 ft long. They will support 2 piece 2x12x20 rafters (4/12pitch) at the 13 ft mark measured horizontally with the second piece being 6' long to a double 2x12 ridge.
If that doesn't make sense to you imagine a 24x36ft with the rafters going the 'wrong' way and no ceiling beams or collars. 3ft overhang at thr eaves and 2 at the gables.
It's for the archy's house in case you didn't figure that already.
Will post pics.
Funny how they got heavier as we progressed!!
Thanks for the help.
Eric

Firebird,
I don't know how much they way but I've picked up a million of them.
What are you using them for and how many, how long, and how high are they going be?
Joe Carola
According to the LP website, the 18" LVLs weigh 9 PLF.
