Really bright orange light – felt like we were on Saturn or something! Clouds coming in fast from Atlanta –
Forrest – stomping around like Charleton Heston in Planet of the Apes shouting “They finally did it! They finally did it!” at the Statue of Liberty. (is this too esoteric?)

Forrest,
Nice pics. We had similar clouds in Columbus this morning.

I guess you got the clouds before we did - they were zipping east pretty fast.
Think maybe it's the end of the world?
Those little bumps remind me of eating some 'delicacy" in rural Normandy - sheep's stomach, maybe? Felt like eating carpet.

Maybe some Native Americans that are 'cloud readers' will see those cloud pics. I think Ansel Adaams has some neet cloud pics.Chuck Slive, work, build, ...better with wood
End of the world--that's what I was wondering when, right after we invaded Iraq I went outside in early evening and Northern Lights were happening and extended from north to slightly south of directly overhead; very unusual for my latitude (mid-Michigan). I thought, "Okay, who nuked who(m)?" Unfortunately I didn't take pictures to share.
it's the gravity field thing and hitting the messages tab ripple effect affecting the time consortium...

Thanks for the mammatus link - the kids were intrigued, as well!

You're welcome. I can only recall seeing those clouds once, a long time ago. They were spectacular, but nothing like the ones in the Nebraska photos. While I'm at it, thanks for the Classical Portico project. That was also spectacular. I'm looking forward to the next one.Dan
I cite that quote quite often (nice juxtaposition of the q words, no?)
The other one is "Damn you all".
Nice clouds BTW. My daughter is studying them now, so we look towards the heavens often.
