I need to be able to use my basement for storage and workspace, but with heavy rain or thawing I get water coming in from the bottom of the block wall and up through the slab. The slab has a floor drain in the center that runs out to the street. After exploring many options I watched a fine homebuilding video where they installed a dimpled membrane on the floor running partially up the wall and then put plywood on top to walk.
Does this sound like a solution that will allow for a semi-finished floor while still allowing water to run into the floor drain? Also, should holes be drilled in the bottom course of block to release water pressure?
