What brand coil nails for fibercement siding?
I have a coil siding nail gun, but have not used it with fiber-cement siding before. I have seen very few comments or recommendations on the different brands of hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel nails available. Some of the comments indicated that there are some quality problems with the collating wires or the nail steel itself.
Does anyone have experience with a particular brand they would like to recommend? A description of an actual experience would help illustrate.
I am face nailing because of the 12 wide lap siding. I am in western Kentucky–we get humidity, and high winds during storms, but no salt.
ALSO: Any comment on wire vs plastic collating, ring shank v smooth, face-nailing (exposed) galvanized vs stainless steel, and where to buy are appreciated.

I have a dedicated Max that I use for fibercement. I've never used anything but stainless wire nails, more like box nails than regular 8s and buy whatever brand the closest supplier has. I don't remember ever having any problems beyond the an occasional bent nail nd all the brands I've used have been on wire coils.
Thanks
Thank you for your info.
my 2 cents..
I have done only a couple houses with fiber cement, both with a bostitch N-88 RH which is a full round head plastic collated sticks. it has worked very well, the quick adjust depth setting is nice.
I've never used anything but hot dips in a climate somewhat similar to yours with no regrets.
Face nailing is my preference in any application unless otherwise dictated by the customer. I actually prefer the look of a well driven nail in a place where it should be expected.
Thanks, oldhand. How much nail did you put into the stud?
Usually..
About 1 1/2" . Any deeper and you have a better chance hitting a wire or pipe.
