Is an 18 gauge stainless sink okay for the kitchen??? Can it have a garbage disposal? I have purchased an L-shaped corner sink for my remodel, it ‘s 18 gauge, is that typical??? 20 gauge was more that twice as much. Thanks

18-gauge is about as thick as they come. Probably thick, in part, because it is a corner, L-shaped unit. 20-gauge is thinner but still a good sink and fine wtih a disposal. 22- and 24-gauge SS is pretty thin, is noiser, feels less substanial, typically (since they skrimped on the SS) has less soundproofing and, for all those reasons isn't a good choice for 1) a garbage disposal nor 2) our own house.
Again, 18-gauge is thicker than 20-gauge. The 18-gauge might have cost less because of manufacturer, mark-up, or other details (less chromium + nickel, but that usually happens in the really thin ones.)
