What is standard microwave installation for over the stove …
What is teh standard installation for teh electricl for a microwave over the stove?
1. Most or all microwaves are of the plug vereity and not hardwared ? Correct?
2. Teh outlet is usually inside of a cabinet above teh microwave? Correct?
3. When installing this outlet is teh box mounted more proud of the stud than the standard 1/2 drywall allowance and then teh cabinet back is cut out? Correct?
Pretty basic, but …
Thanks all.

wing it
Our electrican usually justs roughs the feed wire through drywall. Then at electrical trim out phase he (or we) cut in a wing box. This way the box is sure to be flush with the cabinet back.
Sounds good, but
Is teh electrical inspector good with a wire hanging there? Is it ok because teh electrial inspector comes back for a
"final" after teh microwave is set? I am not familar with teh inspection process.
Thanks
Wow that is alot of teh (s)
teh(s) sorry.
You're just trying to provoke Taunton into providing a spell checker.
ya tht si it exacctli.
The one I installed has a recessed outlet box in the wall behind the uwave.
Son's house that builder apparently did is in cabinet above the uwave. Big pain and interference with storing stuff.
If ya gotta choice, recessed box in wall behind.
Recessed?
You mean one of those specialty boxes people use for say a clock? It has its own housing and room for teh plug head? For teh microwave do you need to plan for a channel for the cord or is there enough room to squeze teh cord behind the microwave?
so far a helpful thought. thanks
Usually you need to leave a little room around a microwave so it can breathe anyway.
Heavy ?
Do they breath heavily? I like that kind.
Anything that gets hot that fast is uaually a heavy breather.
