What is this antique plumbing tool for?
Hi,
Can someone tell me what this tool is called and what it is used for? I’m guessing it ha something to do with working with pipe. It’s from m Dad’s shop. He was a carpenter but my grandfather was a pipe fitter and my uncle a plumber.

Hi there, I am not sure, but given the info you provided about who probably used it I would guess it is a pipe reamer, flaring tool, or something like that. I will be curious to see what others think/know...
Yeah, probably some sort of reaming or tapping tool, though I last night was looking at a picture of something vaguely similar, and it was a control on a steam engine (I'm thinking it was a farm-type engine).
Of course, it also has a fairly good resemblence to a steering knuckle.
What is this tool?

Hi, Look like it is a lathe or milling machine.
Thanks for Sharing.
just guessing, but
with the cracked nut, the steering knuckle sure is a concept. But the end on the right somewhat resembles a knock out maker for electrical panels, and given the history you identified, could it be for cutting a hole into a pipe or manifold?
