What products are out there that can replace horizonal + vertical furring strips for vertical siding?
In our future build we plan on having up to 3″ of wood fiber board as outsulation. Many of the techniques I have seen to install vertical cladding require two layers (vertical and horizontal) of furring strips to created a rain screen behind the cladding. I am curious what products are out there these days that will allow to only run horizonal furring strips but still provide the drainage needed?

Fiberglass Z-girts for furring. Here is the link.

I've seen these before. I was considering this product when I was looking at Rockwool Comfoboard as my exterior insulation. Mainly because the Rockwool product wasn't quite as rigid as I would want. This could still be an option but how would you handle a rain screen between these z-girts and the cladding?
That would depend on the cladding material. For example siding, then you would need to either install the z-furring vertical or add a second vertical component to the horizontal z-furring.
Vertical Z-furring only, then just make sure the z-furring depth is slightly deeper than the 3" wood fiberboard. This will automatically create the gap between the cladding and fiberboard.
Horizontal Z-furring only, then providing a shim or adding something like Cor-A-Vent to the end of the furring will create the gap.
Yes. I see. With 3" of outsulation I am thinking it would be easier to fasten to a Z-girt vs long screws through the strapping into the wall. I'm also doing vertical aluminum siding so attaching some type of perforated horizontal strapping, whether it is a Cor-A-Vent or some type of metal strip, directly to the Z-girt would be easiest. I would just need to get signoff from the engineer to make sure I add enough Z-girt. This video is where I first saw Z-girt. The only used full pieces in some places otherwise that used small segments.
