I never rent, I buy used and rebuild.
BTW, STILL am looking for a rebuldable 4WD 40 ft telehandler for under $5K, no luck so far.
Hands down it would be a good forklift and I don't mean a used up pos, but one with good controls, good reach and a rental yard with low delivery and pick up costs.
Every custom builder doing large projects out west should own a skidsteer, but unless you like to frame more than finish it would be hard to justify owning a forklift unless you also rent it out to others. Setting trusses is so much easier with a crane truck and at only a couple hundred a day including operator it's one of the best deals out there.
