What type wood for siding repair??

Any opinions on occassional reapisr to my 18 year old house that has horizontal square edge nominal 1×8 wood siding, fuzzy side out. I do not know what the present wood is – maybe pine, but replacement choices are

cedar
pine
treated wood – but may not be fuzzy
cypress – probably too expensive.

Any web sites on this use of wood?

          *cedar... u can get it in clear stock... is available rough sawn (fuzzy).. decay resistant.. likes paint & stain.. reasonably priced...y not ?
