G’Day all. My grandmother has a house they had build for them about 40 years ago with a screwy light.
The light swith for the bathroom is in the hall way. Thats annoying but after 40 years they;re used to it. Well low & behold just a little while ago I flipped the switch that IS in the bathroom. I guess is has always been assumed that its for the FAN in the same bathroom. Well apparently they have NEVER flicked that switch before. Guess nannys poop dont stink 🙂
Anyways. I hit the switch & the hall light came on very dim. Like half power. If you hit the switch they normally use for the hall light the light comes on full power. Turn the hall switch off & the light returns to half power (if the switch in the bathroom is on, else the light turn off)
Can anyone offer any ideas as to WHY this is like this? There’s no dimmer switch or anything. ITs a mystery!
I would think with 2 switches offering power to the same light you should get a blown fuse when the second switch if flicked. & with the one switch offering just partial power to the bulb there would have to be a transformer type thing I think. I know NOTHING about electrical stuff other then it hurt when you cut drywall around live plugs. Would like to hear some ideas. Im sure its not just the bulb because its has been changed in the past.
Thanks
