I’m looking for opinions on what windows would be best for a new room that we are adding to our house. This will basically be a sunroom as 2 sides will be floor-to-ceiling windows. Everyone I speak with has a different opinion – Anderson, Marvin, Norco, etc… Since there is a huge disparity in the costs between these companies, I want to be sure that I am buying the right product.

Hi Linda,
If there was such a thing as the best window in the world, consumers would still buy the rest.
I watched a rack of 30 different window sections of different manufacturers, being tested at the NRC and none came out a clear winner over the rest.
If you like them and can afford them, then you will probably be satisfied with the results.
Everyone is different. I like european tilt and turn windows for our homes. I personally beleive that windows should open inward and lock up like a fridge door, but thats only me.
I hate any type of crank or levers that open windows unevenly and torque the glazing panels.

*Speaking only as someone who has been reading this board for quite awhile now:First, check the archives, there are many "best" window threads.Second, figure out what kind of window you want, keeping one eye on what the windows in the rest of the house look like, and what your budget is.Third, find the windows that match the criteria from 2Fourth, buy the windows from 3 that promise to have the best service/support in your area.Rich Beckman
