What wood for Kit. Cabs w/Lyptus floor?

We’re putting Lyptus prefinished, clear finish flooring throughout the house and will be making new kitchen cabs. We like natural wood and were thinking of Hickory for the cabs but the Lyptus is a very busy looking floor and I think I need to tone down the cabinets.
Any ideas/thoughts?

I dont see a lot of lyptus but if its busy dont get hickory, with all of its dark to light, light to dark you'll get dizzy!
How about something like maple or some wood that is plain in its grain. Have you thought about painted?

I was also thinking maple might be nice. Birch is also fairly mellow, and one of my favorites.
I guess the other option is to stick with lyptus. I didn't realize the color was so variable.zak
"so it goes"
The existing cabinets are maple but they've yellowed over the years, I could refinish them but the existing yellow color kinda turns me off to maple. Mabe I can talk the wife into another flooring in the kitchen and use Lyptus for the cabinets.Over the Hill? What Hill? I didn't see any Hill!
Have the cabinets custom made and use water based lac or poly, it wont yellow and you can keep a nice white from the maple if thats what you want.
Or Lyptuss for the cabinets might be nice to!
