What would you charge?????

dieselpig | Posted in Business on August 31, 2007 04:18am

C’mon Lou…. you’ve been around here long enough to know what kind of answers you’re gonna get for this sort of question bro.  Within the next day or two you will be linked to 200 Jerrald Hayes worksheets, three Sonny Lykos webpages, and be recommended two dozen books on overhead, profit, and mark-up.

I know this sort of thing isn’t your normal gig…. so I’d say just put the pencil to it for a minute and you’ll come up with something.  Figure out how much time you’ll have invested in the job….phone calls/ ordering, scheduling, billing, picking up material, and installation, etc  and then put the stink-eye to it and you’ll come up with a number.

    No wayto tell you.

But why aheader on a gable? ground level or 80 feet up?

Take your best guess as to time X what you think you need per whatever ( day, week, hour, mile of trim..etc) and double that, X aggravating circumstances , divided by mitagating circumstances, add for TIF ( Things I Forgot, about 20%) and show it to someone else..if they laff. Start over.

that was another cut throat under bid...Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming<!----><!----><!---->

$200.00 labor and all I'll need for the install is a chainsaw and my Paslode; oh..... and cash up front. Headers are way over-rated , prab'ly just put a few extra 16's in tha head casing and be just fine.

Don't forget tha caulk;  ME, I like to use tha good stuff so it would prab'ly be closer to $201.79.   :)

Dude was just trying to price out a single window install in a finished house.... single window, gable end, first floor, easy access to include finish (drywall, trim), blah, blah, blah.    His regular gig is a cabinet shop, but he's taking odd jobs while his new shop is completed and didn't really know where to begin in coming up with a price for his customer.
