One thing I know we all like to have is a project to carry us through the holidays and on into the New Year. We all have stories we can tell about running out of work right before Christmas, or getting laid off right before the holidays. Winter is never a good time to be looking for work, anyway.
So I just started a project yesterday, closing in a carport and building an adjoining garage, some other stuff inside. I’m working by myself, and someone else is doing the foundation for the garage. I’ll have a buddy help me one weekend on the garage walls and roof. It’s a 3/12 pitch, easy work. Five or six weeks of work for a really nice couple to carry me right on through the holidays and into the next year, with plenty of time to line up something else when this is done. That’s a blessing in our business. Thank you Lord!
Anyone else wanna tell us what you’re workin’ on?

Playing catch up now, all the smaller jobs "when I get time". Trying to remember whats on that fictitious list people think I have. The last two decembers I have fallen into whole house remodels - unoccupied. Now that was great. Everyday, same location, all winter.

Finishing a 5700 SF custom home / projected closing date 1/15/06.
Currently in the framing stages of a 4360 SF custom home (see post "I scored again") on 10 acres, and the HO should be approving my bid for a 24 x 30 pole barn today.
Amen, thank God.
Finishing up a floor install this week, another one next week.
After that it's end of year accounting time mixed with evaluations of advertising, insurance, finance and other overhead for the new year.
That leaves time for some client schmoozing, Xmas shopping, honey-do's and hopefully a couple batches of homebrew. As soon as the gunfire quiets down in the woods (Dec. 20), back to mountain biking.
