It reminded me of a planet... so I took the pic... but it is more down to earth.

It involved something like a Versatile Saw.
What kind of "Versatile Saw".Google came up with several wildly different hits on that phrase...

OK, but it isn't in the cabinet base anymore. He must have lined it with a plastic bag, then took the bag out and the wrinkle/puckers we see to the right are where it draws snug to the tie at top.

We have a winner!Where is Rez when you need him?The layers in the bag were kinda cool. Red oak, white oak, maple, poplar layers.
Almost looked like some Azec or koma.As soon as you said a wood by product, it clicked. I knew the flash sheen was plastic from the get-go. Then your last comment reminded me of times i have shoveled the stuff out from under my tablesaw. Then I recalled on sub who has one of those cyclone shop vac systems. He lines the 30 gal can with a plastic bag, sometimes black and sometimes clear. But I imagine that the swirling would make the varying dusts mix a little more.So the table saw it is???I have a sandstone slab from Colorado that has similar lines too.
