Where can I find large dry erase boards
HD sells 2’x4′ plain dry erase boards. I need larger ones, almost like a 4×8 sheet. Anyone know where I can buy these? Sure I can go to Staples and buy one that is metal framed with a pen rest on it, but I don’t need that. I’m creating a “whole wall” of Dry erase boards for a client. They want the wall I built for them to be all dry erase, they plan to use it for their job scheduling.

Go to a real lumberyard, (not HD) and they should have smooth colonial white tile board, or they may call it lionite. It is basically 4x8 sheets of dry erase board, thats the only thing its good for really, its relatiley cheap, and you should be able to just liquid nails it up, I would use the paneling formula, preferably in a can, and troweled on. It will leave a smoother, very secure surface and the paneling formula get really tacky really quick. Just give it a minute or two on the wall. It should require little or no bracing. Hope that helps.

the effect of "dry erase" is really in the markers; any smooth high-gloss surface will act as a dry erase board, tho some may stain more readily if the markers are left on for prolonged time.
i once used a scrap of magnetic board (a thin sheet of metal coated in a white enamel) for both dry erase and magnets.
WillieW,
My DGF's front door has 6 lights, I mean 6 small DE boards... plus the two larger ones in the storm door.
The front of the fridge is another.
We have a 7'x2' DE board. . . mirror, in the BR. . .plus the vanity mirror.
The visqueen in the attached hothouse is where all her plant notes are, but I'm not sure how well she will be able to write when it's freezing outside.
I use a picture frame with a gridded white sheet behind the lexan.
Car painters pinstriping tape makes neat gridlines, or for more permanence, use striping rollers.
Lexan over white, or pale, paneling lets you have pemanent grids that you can easily change. Oxymoronic phrase?
A piece of small halfround provides a no-erase guard for semipermanent columns or rows as does a hinged lexan flap.

in the panelling section, look for white melamine covered masonite in 4x8 sheets. i think it is designed as cheap panelling for wet areas. i screwed a 1x4 with a cove on the wide side to the wall as a pencil tray, and set a 4x8 sheet of the stuff on the tray, on the hall wall outside my kids' bedrooms. they are 19 (moved to her "suite" upstairs) and 22 (moved to hollyweird) and they and their friends still write on it every chance they get. biggest return on a $12 investment that i ever had.
Our Lowes here sells a panel used in baths made by Abitibi. The white is perfect for dry erase boards. My wife is a teacher and uses it at school.

We used to get it in sheets from our laminate supplier.
Some of the other things mentioned are good but not the same thing.
There is a special laminate just for this.

white formica
Not necessarily plain white formica Brownie. One of the laminate companies (might be formica or wilsonart) sells a laminate made for markers.

You can certainly buy true dry-erase boards in 4x8 or larger sheets -- we have some conference rooms that have full-wall dry-erase boards.
happy?
i think you can buy paint and wallpaper both designed to be marked upon with dry erase markers. i know you can buy chalkboard paint.
