Where did Steve Go.

Kyle | Posted in General Discussion on November 2, 2003 09:34am

I was in between football games yesterday and was searching the program guide when I came across “The new this old house”. I don’t hardly ever watch that show any more so I tuned in to see what was differant. The only thing that I noticed was that Steve Thomas was gone. I was just curious if any body new what happened to him.

            I don't think there's a resemblance to the Aunt.

            J-lo

take out the l and move 5 letters back in the alphabet, you get a better description.

as for the new guy, I don't think he knows his way around a construction site, and I think that's just what TOH wanted, moving the show ever more towards to h/o's.  Lots of H/O's out there, not many "pros" by comparison...  I like him better then Steve, seeing one more pinkish shirt made have drove me mad.

Is the Jennifer Lopez "problem" her substantial derriere?

I for one would not think of it as a problem, but I'm old enough so that my dream gals were voluptuous Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth types.

If this is not what you're referring to, consider me embarrassed!

          10. caseyr | Nov 03, 2003 08:41pm | #23

yep, that's it.  Her wedding dress maker was quoted in some news trivia column saying "it's not as big as you might think", but I did see a pic in American Photo that made her look about two axe handles wide...

            Oh, on Marilyn:

            Height:

            5 feet, 5½ inches

            Weight:

            118-140 pounds

            Bust:

            35-37 inches

            Waist:

            22-23 inches

            Hips:

            35-36 inches

            Bra size:

            36D

Dress size said to be a size 12 at the time, however, a size 12 today is bigger than it was back then...

Not interested enough to track down the specs for J-Lo...  So, so much for today's trivia.

Again, the size of J-Lo's booty is no problem as far as I'm concerned. I subscribe to the philosophy expressed in Spinal Tap's "Big Bottom". Since there are women on this board I'll refrain from quoting the lyrics...

Yes! Or perhaps Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back": "I like big butts and I cannot lie..."

Well, we've strayed some from the topic of where Steve went, huh?

          14. caseyr | Nov 03, 2003 06:54am | #20

And for the 64 (cent) question:

The entertainment media often refer to the "J-Lo problem" - which refers to  ____

            (Is it really a problem?)

No telling why TOH changed front guys.  Do know that the new guy has a much more distinct Boston accent.  He doesn't seem to have as much "presence"as ST did.  Does seem to be a banker on a construction show (more so on "Ask TOH").

The evidence is clear, the market needs, yea, demands--

Dose the new guy seem to be blushing all the time.  or is it just my old tv and my old eyes.  Or maybe bad makeup job.

        1. Lateapex911 | Nov 03, 2003 01:48am | #9

I think he's just one of those fair redheaded guys who has a "flush" look.

From what i understand, he's just a regular guy. Seems decent enough.

It also appears that the show chose him to "back up" a bit, and uses his novice standing to explain things from a more basic point of view.Jake Gulick

I watched TOH and Ask TOH with the new guy, Kevin, yesterday. Kevin seems like a twink to me; my mother opines that he's asking all those stupid questions on behalf of viewers who don't know as much about building as us "pro" types do. I think he's actually a dope:

DESIGNER: We stained these parquet floors dark to add contrast and character.

KEVIN: Uh huh. And why did you do that?

By the end of the show my eyes ached from the number of times they rolled back in my head in disbelief.

Re: the Boston accent, I'm from Maine but am very familiar with the Mass. accent, similar to but distinct from ours. I think people in the Midwest or South must lose their minds listening to these guys talk! Not a criticism, just an observation...

Steve is doing a show on DIY for Habitat for Humanity. From what I read it was his decision to leave.

This new guy, Kevin, says "OK" a lot. Notice that next time you watch.

Hey, I started this thread about Steve Thomas, How in the world did J Lo become the main topic. Haven't you all heard enough about her and Ben already. If we are going to talk about chics, did anyone here catch the all female Fear Factor tonight. If you did it just goes to prove that the best cleavage wins :-)

  5. timkline | Nov 03, 2003 04:29am | #15

I read a TOH article the other day that talked about the new guy. He has a financial background with '0' construction experience. TOH did a job at his house and they said he never stopped asking all the subs a million questions. Apparently, Russell Morash thought that curious quality might make a good host.  Those of us in the trades have a different description for it.
