I’d like some opinions please, I’m going to install a wall mounted porch light on the wall in the photo. I was thinking about centering it vertical at the middle of the transom window (maybe 7′-6″ – 8′-0″ high) and centered between the right side door case trim and that vertical “column” trim in the middle of the wall.
Anybody have any other suggestions?

Either there where you described or on the left side wall at approx same height. Kind of depends on where it is easiest to run wire to inside switch.

What designbing said.
Consider also which way the door swings - can't tell from photo. Don't want door / light collisions.

Door is getting reframed and replaced, it will inswing with the hinge on the right side. There will be a screen/storm door that will open out, but the light will be above that at the transom level.I also will dimmer the lights. We have movie nights in the backyard with the projector mounted on that porch railing, so being able to turn that light way down will be nice.
I would consider a light in the soffit also.
It's a subtle thing but I like porch lights on dimmers. Well maybe not subtle when you blast a 100 watt light in someone's eyes.
How about integrating it into that column. Maybe a lantern style on a bracket.
Oh yeah, but keep it high enough so it doesn't hit your head.

my vote is for Dons idea of on the column. anything over the trasnom will be lighting whatevers inside the transom. Maybe I'm weird but when I have an outside light on it's so I can light whatever's outside and not whats inside.

My 1st vote is for soffit.
If on one of the walls, I would locate height at centerline of transom.

Keep it farther from the door if you don't want moths flying in whenever you open the door.
I would mount it at the house corner. This way it can illuminate the porch and the walkway. (2light fixture)
If you mount it on the perpendicular wall the door most likely would hit it
I'd mount it between the door and the pilaster. But since you are replacing the door, why not remove the pilaster too and reside wall without it?
I'd put it on the wall with the top of the fixture being even with the top of the door. any higher then you have constant light through transom and it looks funny that high up in my opinion.
