I’m currently installing lots of Hardiplank prefinished siding. I need to buy the color-matched caulk that James Hardie advertises in thier brochure, but no one seems to know who sells it – not Home Depot (great price on the Hardiplank, but otherwise terrible), not James Hardie (they advertise it, but they don’t make or sell it – that what they tell me), not Home Depot’s distributor (they say talk to James Hardie). Even the James Hardie rep I met in the Home Depot parking lot doesn’t know where to get it! Do you? I’d be willing to call anywhere in the country to get it – I’m freakin’ desperate! In case it matters, I’m using the Monterey Grey Hardiplank color.

I BELIEVE that the OSI "Clay" is very close to the "Monterey Grey".

dumb ?, but where are you needing the caulk, ie where on the building?
And maybe just as dumb...if the siding gets painted after installation, why not just paint over the caulk?Do it right, or do it twice.
Never a dumb question, but plenty of dumb answers!
I need to caulk the spots where the planks meet the trim boards around the windows and doors, and at the corner boards. Also, I need to caulk the joints where two planks meet each other - we gapped them as suggested by the manufacturer because the wall is very long (55') and it gets a lot of sun, thus there will be thermal expansion.
I need colored caulk because the siding is prefinished - it arrived fully primed and painted, thus I won't be painting the house. This, by the way, is saving lots of time and money and I'd highly reccomend it to anyone!
Find a distributer for Pecora caulks. There line up of colors is extensive.
