I have heard that power tools you buy at the box stores have lower quality internal components than the same tool you buy at industrial supply houses. I’m looking at the PC 1 1/2 hp combo router kit. It’s $50 cheaper at the boxes, but is it the same tool?

tnert.. model # is model #..
if the model # is an exact match.. the tool is identical
b but hey, whadda i no ?
*tnert, most professional grade tools are just that regardless of where you buy them. the only exception that I am aware of is default which also makes a line of "homeowner" grade tools. what I understand is that the dewalt drill drivers that don't have the black overmold on the handle are a lesser quality. if I'm wrong I'm sure that someone will jump right in and say so.one thing to remember is that the "boxes" also buy and sell huge quantities so their markup doesn't have to be as high as a supply house that doesn't move as much stuff.
*If your checking model #'s make sure they exactly match. Ex. 1234 & 1234s The extra digit may mean sell at home cheapo because it's already wrecked
*Steve- You are correct, sir. 'Homeowner' line also comes with the lighter, less capacity 'compact' batteries. Ken
*somestimes model numbers wont match because of the ole meet and beat by 10%. Sometimes stores will ask the makers to include some special doohickey inorder to change the model number to 10956 instead of 10955. That way they dont have to meet and beat items. This wont always happen with tools as much as TVs VCRs but it does happen with the DIY lines.A little off the tangent there but just compare the reviews from magazines to find what they think are youre better buys
