I have been volunteered to help my children’s swim club replace and existing “bubble” (air supported structure) over an existing 50 meter pool. We have found the new vendor and are ready to move forward with the process. I am wondering if there might be a market for the old bubble (perhaps as a temporary tarp or cover over a large construction site)? We are replacing it because we can not afford to have it fail in mid-season, not because it has already failed or is beyond use. Anyone have any ideas? The bubble is in lower CT and I am open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Bill

*A nursery might be interested in using it for a green house.
*Yes e-bay. A couple of weeks ago they had a three story beer bong up for auction. A pool bubble would be nothing.
*Is it big enough (tall) to put over a house instead of using tarps to hold off the rain?
*The bubble is approximately 80'wide x 200'long x 25' tall when inflated. It is in two sections with a field joint (aluminum clamp system) down the middle. It is big and heavy, but conceivably could be cut up into smaller sections. So the answer would be, yes, depending on the size of the house.
*Ralph,Did you have a specific idea in mind when you asked about covering a house with the bubble/tarp? I have thought that perhaps a temporary shelter over a commercial jobsite might be a good use, but I don't know where to go to try to reach the market (it's not as if we are trying to make any $ on this, just hate to see it cut up in a dumpster).Bill
*gunner..your a pissa
*What???Bill
*Bill, I just now found your question about a specific use for the bubble.I wasn't prepared for a bubble that big (long) but there have been times that work has come to a grinding halt due to continuous rain when your job has to be set up outside. I was thinking of the possibility of getting everyone and everything out of the elements so work could continue. Material staging and storage or fabrication so the actual work area could be kept clear. One person or company may not have a continuous need for such an item but if it were available for reasonable rental, sort of like scaffolding, then someone or your organization that no longer needs the bubble could offer it and maybe have a little income which could, over time, be much more than realized by selling.
*Thanks for the suggestion Ralph, I am kinding of hoping I might find someone who would be willing to take it away (for almost any $'s). So the not for profit YMCA would not have to deal with it. Kind of kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Remove the old bubble for us and have a huge tarp as needed. As I said I was thinking a large commercial contractor might have a use, I was just trying to figure out how to reach out to someone. Ebay sounds like a long shot to me.Thanks again,Bill
*Few more ideas to kick around. There are a bunch of traveling religious revival groups that rent tents where ever they go. Maybe they would be interested in taking it off your hands. My folks were pool club members in Bethany or Woodbridge. The pool shut down when fall arrived. Maybe an open air pool club could use it to stay open longer. Some schools don't have the wherewithall to afford indoor physical activity facilities (gyms, etc). Maybe a donation to a needy school so the kids could still play outside (sort of) when it's raining or snowing. How many tennis courts could you cover with that thing? Maybe Adirondack Jack could use it.Then, there are the homeless shelters that always seem to run out of room during the winter. Would this bubble hold heat enough to be used as an overflow barracks? How big is the door? Does it have a door? Will a single engine aircraft fit through? Maybe Mongo knows a few people with tiedowns who might want some cover, assuming they could convince the airport authorities to allow it.
