Does anyone have any ideas about what’s causing my shower to emit a high pitched whistle? This is a new sound from a shower that has worked fine until now. It is a shower over a tub). Thanks. Bob

u don't say if it's an older faucet set w shower diverter, or a newer anti-scald valve
don't know about the anti-scalds, but older faucet sets will shriek, whistle, rumble w bad packing on end of faucet stem
First off, determine if the sound seems to originate in the shower head or the control. If it's in the shower head, remove the head and soak it in full-strength vinegar overnight. If it's the control, and a single-handle unit, just replace the cartridge.
Another possibility is that the valve in the tub spout is whistling. Simplest fix there, if a vinegar soak doesn't fix it, is to replace it.
Ditto the vinegar soak. Dismantle as much as you can and use an old toothbrush where needed. Use a small wire to poke holes clean.
