*Greg --I'm in Hollywood, and my mom still lives in San Pedro. Scooter, Ron Teti, and Joe Hennessey are also in Southern California, and there may be more. Never met any of them, though.-- J.S.

*Pleased to meet you, I'm from Maumee (Toledo), Ohio. Met Vince's group at Petefest. Failed attempt for Adrians. Hope to attend the next, Ohio was too easy. Those I've met have made me feel incredibly at ease and welcome. A nice feeling when all you can picture is a bunch of internet axe murderers. Others I've corresponded with as a result of this board are also a good bunch of folks. Amazing place this breaktime.

*Phil, I was born in, I think it's called East L.A. and lived near the foot of Mt. Washington until folks moved us to San Diego when I was in 3rd? grade. Been here pretty much ever since. That said, I'm a regular on Cooks Talk (where I've hung out since I dunno, 97?), but come here for other topics, less regularly. Never met anyone, but love hearing the details and seeing the pics. Someday!Samchang and RuthAnn are also So. Cal., I forget who else.

*I am from Paxton, Illinois. Just 30 miles north of Champaign. Been here all my 47 years. Remember the Chevy truck commercials at the Superbowl several years ago? It went--"People from Ford prefer Chevy"..They were referring to people from Ford county. Paxton is the county seat. Prittnear 4500 people! S-A-L-U-T-E!!!!!!

*I've met Beckman - a singular experience - anyone in this part of Indiana for the last month would understand why he would say; "I live here because I like the climate" - DOUD, renaissance man, long time lurker, occasional poster -

          10. David_Mason | Nov 27, 2001 08:55am | #14

*I live on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. David Thomas lives about twenty miles from me but we haven't met yet. I think there are a few other regulars that live up here also . We just might have to get an Alaskafest going.

          11. Luka_ | Nov 27, 2001 09:55am | #15

*Maybe I could get Andy to pay me to go there as a sort of field correspondent. Hey, maybe I can get Taunton to pay me to go to all the 'fests' as a field correspondent. Yeah ! Dat's da ticket ! Think of the lies I could tell, er I mean, the stories I could make up.b : )

*Athens Georgia here. Best known for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Also home of the double barreled cannon and a tree that owns itself. Also, the kudzu capital of the world. Has anyone found a good recipe for that stuff? BTW how do you get to the archives? Somebody post a link to the meet Pics?

          13. Mike_Smith | Nov 27, 2001 03:30pm | #17

*pete...go to the bottom of the screen and enter "search".... look for caperfest...or whatever.. here's one link to petefest... Ralph Wicklund "Anybody Want To See More Petefest Mug Shots?" 8/15/00 10:51pm

*Same list as Pro-Dek (Bob S.). Jim Lovett came by my house for a load of Luka materials once but I was out of town, hope to meet him someday also. Sam D. & I work for same "engineering firm" and have talked on phone, hope to meet him soon as he drives within a mile of my house occasionally.Phil: You probably are not much farther away from Luka's place (Index WA) than Blodgett is (Roy, WA. Nathan/Scott in Seattle, Bob@Issaquah, Art@Renton.

*Grew up in San Deigo moved to New Mexico in '93, in the mountains out side of Albq. Haven't met anyone yet. Don't know if anybody is even close.

*Well I live in Akron,Ohio which as you all realize is the center of the known universe.I have run into JRS (John Svennson) A couple or three times. He seemed nice enough.I am sure it is anti-social of me,but I don't really feel compelled to meet any of you in person. If I run into somebody like John at a supplier or lumber yard that's great but I can't imagine flying across the country to meet somebody you only know from the internet!

          17. Peter_Koski | Nov 27, 2001 04:35pm | #21

            *Thanks Mike..it was mighty scarey...but I am glad I asked...I think

          18. jim_"crazy_legs"_blodg | Nov 27, 2001 05:37pm | #22

*I've met Sam D. He's a good guy, even though he likes F*rds. If I tried to list all the folks I've met face to face, that I first met here, I'd leave someone out and I don't want to do that, 'cause they've all been worth meeting. But a few of those not mentioned yet are Jon C, Mark Cadioli, Casey R, George Carpenter, Rufus, and the gang at Taunton. There's plenty more I hope to meet as time goes on.The thing that usually surprises me is how people look, their physical characteristcs. Very seldom did I envision them like they are, so I take pictures...for blackmail purposes. Oh! A little advice, DON'T go golfing with Mike Smith and Skip Keith. They'll drag you out of bed before sunrise and you'll have more fun than a person should. Speaking of sunrise, here it comes, gotta hit the salt mines.

          23. Mike_Smith | Nov 28, 2001 12:37am | #27

*geesh , recko, i hate it wen you take a fence.... did i say i didn't want to meet you ?well, did i ?.. i said you and merrette were conspicuos in your absence at adrian's...not to mention you missed a golden opportunity to see some beautiful country... even if it is on the edge of the known earth... and populated with former colonists....who are still disgruntled at being disposessed by a ragtag bunch of rebels and never lose an opportunity to remind us.....

          24. Rich_Beckman | Nov 28, 2001 05:23am | #28

*> I've met Beckman - a singular experienceYou'll notice that David isn't specifying whether it was a positive experience!Meeting David was definitely my privilege and pleasure, as was meeting the many attendees at PeteFest and CaperFest.I would tell you where I'm from, but this is the internet...one can't be too careful!Rich Beckman

          25. Ron_Budgell | Nov 28, 2001 05:25am | #29

*Not disgruntled, Mike. Maybe a trifle regretful, but everyone here blames British incompetence more than we credit rebel skill. Does your family go that far back on this side of the water.Back on the subject, I met the list at Caperfest and was very glad to have done so. I went back there a month later and spent the night at G and E LaLonde's while our kids tore the place up. I see Novy 7 often and we have worked together but we met here first.

          26. Tim_Thompson | Nov 28, 2001 05:50am | #30

*I have been lurking and posting posting since '99. The only person I have met from here is Phat Bastard, I had the privelege of working with him on some great projects when I moved to Tennessee. He is an amazingly skilled and patient craftsman. I have now moved back to Brunswick, Georgia. I really wish I could have made it to some of the fests, it would be nice to meet the people I have been learning from.

          27. David_Doud | Nov 28, 2001 06:20am | #31

*i Singular: unique, one of a kind - exceptional, extraordinary, peculiar, unusual, remarkable, rare, odd, strange, different. The standing joke around here for a few days after Rich B. visited was that 'daddy is bringing home people from the internet' - to which I replied that Rich is not nearly as scary as the various characters I've met otherwise and brought home -

          28. bobl_ | Nov 28, 2001 06:03pm | #32

*I was born at Lincoln Hosp, and lived on East Triggs St till we moved east.Least that's the way I remember it.

          29. Mark_"if_I_were_a_carpenter | Nov 28, 2001 10:04pm | #33

*I live in Eastern Iowa, was in central Texas whenI first visited these boards. I haven't met any of you in person. I almost think it would be kind of a let down now that I have formed my own mental image of everyone. Kinda like how I'm certain that when I finally see the lord of the rings movie I'm gonna be mad because none of the characters look like I imagined them whilst reading the books.I am considering maybe doing the Texas get-together since My lil' bro lives in that vicinity and I could use that as an excuse to pay him a visit as well.

          30. jim_"crazy_legs"_blodg | Nov 29, 2001 04:55am | #34

*Are you sayin' you picture us like Hobbits? Or Gollum, maybe?

          31. Stan_Foster | Nov 29, 2001 05:11am | #35

*Mark: I hope everybodies computer doesnt crash, but heres a picture of me so that if and when you see me in person, you will be better prepared and not gasp. Anyway, this is me at what I like doing best, bowhunting. This was three weeks ago.

          32. jim_at_great_white | Nov 29, 2001 07:54am | #36

*Grew up in Michigan, Livonia, Jackson then to Colorado in 83 Denver area and framing hammers ever since. Met Andy (great guy daughter mooned him dog wanted to go home with him) Ken Layfield (Canadian but still a great guy) Terry Smiley (Greaat guy extraordinary craftsmen)Talked to M Smith and Mark Cadioli over the phone, both seem to be the kind of fellers I'd tip beverages with.jim

          33. jim_"crazy_legs"_blodg | Nov 29, 2001 09:00am | #37

*I know a local photographer who has props like that for people to pose with too, Stan. That deer looks almost real though. Have you got one of those big rubber fish, like Mad Dog?My favorite one is a rubber building inspector. His eyes are bugging out and his tongue is protruding, and all the contractors around here pose with their hands around the guy's throat...makes for a real nice Christmas card.

          34. Stan_Foster | Nov 29, 2001 02:08pm | #38

*JiM;; Yea, its fake. I just try and make different poses with it each time. ha

          35. Andy_Engel_ | Nov 29, 2001 04:50pm | #39

*I've met all the guys who say they've met me, plus the real Cathy Blodgett, Nick Markey, Dave Crosby and probably some others whose names escape me. Haven't found one of them to be a bum.Andy

          36. David_Thomas | Nov 30, 2001 11:35am | #40

*I gave up my fifth-generation San Franciscian bragging rights when I followed my wife to Seattle for her medical residency. Then to Alaska 3.5 years ago.I have been trying to note other Alaskan posters. David Mason in Sterling near me, Tim H in Anchorage, Alan R in Talkeetna, Tom Laing, John Muir, and David Tousignant. And far northern Canadians like Mike Ferguson of Baffin island are a lot like Alaskans only with better health care.I've emailed many of the above but haven't met any. It would be nice to do an AlaskaFest. But Attu to Ketchikan is the same distance as San Francisco to Tallahassee, Florida so there is some serious mileage involved. But probably 75% of us are within a few hundred miles of Anchorage. -David

          37. Little_Joe | Dec 02, 2001 06:35pm | #41

*I haven't met anyone from Breaktime, though in a way I feel like I know most. I'm in Bayfield, WI, a bit north of Mad Dog. I don't recall how long I've been hanging out here, and occasionaly posting...maybe late '99 or early '00? Anyway, I would like to make it to one of the shindigs sometime soon to actually meet some of y'all.Later. Matt

*I met Luka a couple of years ago. Nice man.Talked to Rob Rhem on the phone- we listen to the same radio station- maybe I'll see him at Toys for Ta Ta's Friday.Talked to Mike Smith on the phone once- he didn't swear at me.Shot pool in the same bar in Montanna that Splinter occasions.Hope to commit to a fest someday and actually make it.

          39. Rob_Rehm | Dec 02, 2001 09:14pm | #43

*Doug my wife is starting to like me, I think. somehow toys for ta ta's seems like it would screw things up a bit especially when She has me leaving on a shoppiing trip with her then. This is quite an interesting project you have sent with the Devines. She seemed accepting of the idea of 15,000 or so. This should be an interesting project. If I do this am I going to see you showing up with a lawn chair & a beer?

          40. doug_hubbard | Dec 02, 2001 10:25pm | #44

*Bet on it! also a tool belt. Case there are some non twist offs.I can run over anytime if you get some two man heavy stuff.I got a thought on a wall under that center beam in the basement- call me. He wouldn't let me jack that place up to level- didn't want to crack the plaster.Hey- look at that floor - beautiful- well it was. PTD added a coat of poly and ... I didn't kill him cuz that goes over bad at christmas.Good luck on the bid.you will probably get it if you kick 75 percent back to me...of course I am kidding60 is finehubAlmost forgot- I'll make a contribution in your name- for the kids and all...
