Will be used mostly to haul trash and occasional building materials, maybe a rented bobcat. Van has a capacity of 10K
Saw this, does it seem like a good deal?

There are a few good names for dump trailers: U-Dump, Premier & a couple others that do not come to mind right now. Most duel axle dump trailers have a GVW of 10,000 Lbs. $1600.00 is a good price depending on condition & age.
I'm not too sure you'll be able to get any heavy equipment into the trailer since the deck of the trialer is over the wheels. That set up make for a tall trailer. If you build up the sides of the trailer you end up needing a ladder to dump trash into the trailer as well.
If you can get the trailer for +/-$1600.00 it's a good starter trailer.
Good luck.
That's about my setup and new it would run around 5000$ so not a bad price.
But with the wheels under it will be too high off the ground to load a bobcat on.
A single hydraulic arm is not as good as a dual.
And the sides are high so it will be hard to load from the side.
The above wheel are nice for unloading mulch and rock into a wheelbarrow as you can pull right underneath.

I've got a wheel under 12' with removable sides so I can load/unload with a forklift if necessary. Ramps were an option for hauling bobcats and the like. I didn't get them, but I've hauled equipment with no problem. The tailgate drops down past flat and by lifting the bed a little, I can drive a bobcat right on it. I've got a single hoist and have had no problems in nearly 5 years of use, but if the trailer was any larger, a double hoist would be mandatory, IMHO.
$1600 would be a good price if it's not completely ragged out.

My permanent sides are rusting badly.
I would like to see some pictures of your trailer.
My tailgate swings sideways which makes dumping easier but hauling materials longer than the bed a pain.
I have stake holders welded on but have never used them.

Here's what I've got. Mine's right outside the window, but the camera's in the truck and it's been a long day.

Does the drop down tailgate interfere with dumping?
Do the removable sides allow trash to escape underneath during hauling(NAILS)?

No & no.
I built my own sides with (3) 5/4 x 6 PT boards per side. There's a couple of inch gap between each board, but the bottom board sits tight on the bottom of the trailer. The gaps make strapping loads that are not as tall as the sides easy.
We use it to haul equipment/materials to the site. We unload it haul the trash, and reload when we're done.http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
So you are running the straps down to the sides which holds your stake built sides down tight?

Yes. There's a continuous rail connected to the outside of the stake pockets to connect to.http://www.quittintime.com/ View Image
I bought a 6yd E-Z Dumper in 2004 for $4000. It's been great to have.
It's got swing-open doors, which I like, but, although they latch in the open position for dumping, they really have to be tied into the open position when hauling long materials on the road, to avoid the possibility of them swinging free.
In flush times, it might be wiser to farm out your trash hauling while you make top dollar doing your thing, but in slow times, you can always trot out your trailer and go slumming, making $25/hr hauling your own trash.
Beats watching TV any day, and it sure pays better.

Mine was a 12' 10,000# EZ Dumper with drop down tailgate for $3500 in '03. Sold it this past winter for $1800 with a warped tailgate.

Yeah, I was looking at dumpster costs and a tight driveway. I asked the guy at the trailer yard about dumpers. He had a new EZ for $4,200, and a used one for $3,900! It was obvious I could sell the rig at the end of the job and come out ahead, so that’s what I told DW....But of course I never sold it.AitchKay
That sounds like a high dealer price on the used one, unless very lightly used and given a warrantee. For me, I figured mine had already paid for itself, and I have a dumop truck now and planned to stay away from big jobs so I didn't forsee any more need for it.The guy who bought it at 1800 considered it a deal.

That sounds like a great deal even if it needs some work. It sounds about identical to mine which I bought in 95 for $1500. I have replaced the tires, springs, lights, and done some welding on it. All said , purchase, maintanance and repairs , I don't have even 3k into it.
I had a Bri Mar. 5 ton, single cylinder and high sides. I sold it with a new floor in it for $1800 and it was snapped up ie: I should have said 2k lol.
If I were buying again I would get the lower model with 2 cylinders and with cylinders that were dual action. Standing at the dump waiting for the bed weight to push the hydraulics down on a 10 degree day is numbing to say the least. But then again I impatient anyway. DanT
