I just read the article about concrete counter tops and wondered about the magnesium trowel. I’ve seen them mentioned elsewhere too. I’ve examined them in the hardware store…. What does magnesium do that is better or different than some other material??

Lightweight, yet harder than aluminum.
*a mag trowel will drag the sand and aggregate..it will roll the stones down and bring the cream up..it basically replaces the wood trowel .. a "mag" finish will have more texture than a steel trowel finish.... also you can get on a finish a little bit sooner than you can with a steel trowel..it is often the preferred finish for a lot of surfaces because of the texture it leaves..a common sequence might be...bull float....mag... steel trowel
