They are less than 24" so they will fit in between trusses so you don't have to modify them. If they don't fit exactly between trusses, you just have to frame in the correct opening between the trusses.

*The idea is you install them with the brackets that overlap the edge of the hole and sit on the sheathing. You then have the inside edge of the skylight sit about a 1/4 inch in, for a little play. Your sheet rock then line's right up with the groove they sit in so you don't have to tape and spackle a nice fit . Nice of them ey? Its the best out there.
*The last 4 I put in(2 weeks ago) measured 21" wide. I had to shim each side with strapping for the drywall to fit the channel. I don't seem to remember them being this small in the past, but I could be wrong. I never remember having to shim out the sides though.
*If they made them right on the money there would be no room for error
*Our trusses are so straight, there's no reason the skylights couldn't be right on the money.
*I've noticed this too. Anderson's seem to fit much better and don't have the wimpy flashing either. Last 4 veluxes looked so sloppy it seemed like we didn't know how to frame rough openings. Maybe they are supposed to act like roof vents?
*I really can't say I like Velux's very much. We've had the same RO problems, and homeowners think it's a mistake when they look at them installed like that. Curb mount, flashed, and counterflashed for me! You can build the curb to whatever height you want. A real plus in heavy snow areas. Even seen curbs built up 16" off the roof deck.
*The curb mounts are great if you take the time to do them right. But Anderson's ,not on my house. Anderson skylights rely on a rubber seal in the direct sunlight, just waiting to crack and leak. They also suck in the winter getting that back pan under the rubber sucks. Velux! The only rubber is on the bottom and has metal over the top .
