Who cares if it does?
A nice little treatment with “shingled” pieces of cut birchbark, accented with the coved perimeter.
I didn’t do it, but I may use something like it in a room design I’m cooking up.

So how are they attached? Nailed or glued or?
I'll bet it's not glue.
Nails, maybe staples. Try out each on some birchbark.
A lot of BB gets used outside and inside here, and what I have seen for fastening is nails.

Hi Gene_Davis,

That is really sweet.....looks as if it could be done mostly with rejected scrap.....that's my style......virtually no cost....10 times the labor (mine)......finished product....priceless!
Personally I'd squeeze a blob of poly subfloor adhesive on the back and pop a single staple in each piece.
I'd also have built up a medallion of the same material above the lighting fixture. Something to add a little extra dimension without getting too busy with details.
Be sure and post pics if you follow through with the design you're thinking of doing.
