I am looking for employment in the Willamette Valley area. My family is moving from northern WA to the McMinnville area in a few months. I am 29 years old and have been a general contractor for 4 years. Prior to that I worked for a general contractor in high end new construction for 2 years. My company built homes in the 300k to 400k price range in the Puget Sound area. I am a hands on builder; we did all framing, siding, flatwork and finish work on our homes. Quality and customer service are a huge priority to me rather than speed. I am looking for employment with a custom home builder or subcontract work in the Willamette Valley while I familiarize myself with the area with the goal of becoming a builder there in a year. Idealy, I would like to work with a company that does timber frame or works with RASTRA so that I may expand my skills in this area. Green building greatly appeals to me and my plan is to focus my skills in this direction. Anyone looking for someone like me or that has any contacts, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

With those goals and your past experience, somebody's gonna think they hit the lottery with you. I'm sure you'll find a good match.
Good luck with the job hunt and the move!
Bluewater,
Try Premier Homes in McMinnville. Good company, well run. There's a couple more there. Mostly smaller builders. Not much timber frame unless really small. A lot of guys will find work in Salem and commute. Hard to find the 300-400k homes in McMinnville. More work in that price range in PDX area
Now if you want to go to Bend I have an opening. See more green building over there.
e mail me if you like. I grew up there. Don't have a bunch of contacts but will help if I can

You might want to go to the Street of Dreams tour of new homes and meet some of the contractors there. All are involved in high end construction and tend to farm out much of their work while keeping a quality control/project coordinator onsite to run the show. If anything, the tour will show you how over the top some of the builders are willing to go to impress the higher end buying public. It might be worth the admission fee to get some contacts. Good luck. I miss Oregon terribly...
