andybuildz | Posted in Construction Techniques on January 26, 2007 04:09am

I’m looking for an approx.  24″ X 60″ frameless shower door and the prices are insane, I guess I need a reality check. I called  Wilson Glass who I used in the past but the price was something like $600+…YOWZA!!!! for a 2′ x 5′ piece a glass????!!!#$%#^%$ whewwwwwwwwww.MAybe I’ll buy a storm door and put it in…lol

I framed it so it’d be a stock size…nothing custom if possible.

I was thinkin’ more like $2-3. anyone have a source?

Thanks

andy…

Andy -   New york shower door in Freeport.  379-3535.

If you fax them they'll do a price without having to go down there, 379-6368.

       Isn't 60" a little short for a standard shower door? 66"?

Thanx BUIC...yeh, I know of them and always thought they were expensive from what I remembered. I did call them however.

      Get this...ELEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! LOL

      and w/a frame is $800

      Thats sick!! lol

If you need a shower company I do have to say Wilson Glass is good cause I've used them before but I was just "hoping" someone had a better source.

Thanks again though...brrrrr cold out today huh?

I looked at the wilson glass site. Good stuff there, I bookmarked it.

10 degrees here overnight (in wantagh). Cold enough for now, especially when it was almost 70 two weeks ago!

And you're right, $1100. IS sick.

On one of those house flipping shows you could gut and redo a bathroom for that, and buy the crew lunch!

Good luck with the door hunt... pete

Check Sterling.  I put in a 4' framless, and it was about $400 at HD.

I am interested in finding a reasonable price for shower glass too. City Glass here quoted me something like $1600 for two pieces of glass (a half a wall and a door). I know the glass is tempered and all but that seems high to me. Maybe it is just a fad that the glass shops are jumping in on and using as a high profit project? My dad had a glass shop and once we went to a factory where they took a piece of glass from us and tempered it. It went into a big oven on rollers like a pizza oven and came out a while later.
