Hi,

Thinking about picking up a gasoline-powered portable generator, mainly for backup power to the house.

Electrician recommended Winco brand, specifically the 6000 watt series. Says electric start is a must, and 6000W is more than enough to power the house in an emergency. I think he said this unit runs about $1200.

Anybody have any experience with these? Don’t think it’ll get much use, to be honest, but it’s not unheard of to have power out for days at a time in this neck of the woods. Also, I may use it with power tools occasionally when working away from the house.
