Does anyone know the best type of film coating for sunny windows. I would like it to reduce glare and provide UV protection if possible. I’m a first time message sender but a long time reader of Fine Homebuilding. Thanks

I don't really know about films - I've only used the DIY type you buy & apply with a soap solution. They worked ok. Or at least better than nothin'. I'm sure somebody will chime in soon.
Another item to consider is solar screens. I've heard they do an awesome job. A downside is if only some of the windows are done and won't match other parts of the house. They can also block a lot of light, something to consider if you have small/or not a lot of windows.
It's a 3M product that is only applied by approved installers. I think some glass shops also install a competing brand
One thing to watch out for is that you can only wash them in a certain way and if you paint muntins and sash frames, you need to know not to use a razor on the glass.
Thanks for the response. I'll look for that 3M product. It is so bright in my LR in the AM....so much so that you can hardly see the TV there is so much glare.
