We are adding a shed dormer to the roof of our classic cape house. We plan to have the windows on the shed dormer match the windows on the first floor in size. Will this look okay? I know if windows are too large in a shed dormer, the house will look top heavy. We are trying to be very conscious of aesthetics.

We originally had smaller windows in the shed dormer, but needed to make them larger to meet egress code requirements and didn’t want to make the first floor windows larger, as they would have been very large on the wall (leaving only 12 inches or so between the bottom of the window and the floor, which would interfere with furniture placement and possibly look overwhelming).
