I’m a seasoned carpenter from new england and i could use some guidance on windows. I was asked to work on a friends house in tx that was damaged by hurricane Ike. i’m use to using anderson and lowen windows that are fiberglass in the north but the house has all chapion aluminum windows. I can get the vynl windows at lowes but i thought the extreme heat would make the window move to much?? Thanks for any suggestion.

I don't know about Texas, but I have vinyl windows in FL and they work fine. Check the U factor for aluminum vs. vinyl.
the only factor i can think about is the movement between vynl and aluminum with the extreme heat. I know the u-factor should be the same. but i didn't know if there is a stronger wind rating on the aluminum?
When it comes to wind load rating I think that you will find that there are very few aluminum windows that meet or excede 130mph ratings, and I have not found an aluminum window that has a U factor close to vinyl. Make sure that you are looking at the unit U factor and not the "center of the glass" rating.
