Im trying to help my parents decide on new windows for their house. They have the money to buy decent quality stuff, I’d guess maybe a quality level 6 or 7 on a scale of 10. We live in Utah, so it’s real cold sometimes and real hot other times. I’ve done a fair amount of building and remodeling but having never bought the windows myself before so I’m wondering what are some of the things I should look for.
We have a couple of manufacturers here in town who seem to produce quality stuff and I’m going to talk to a rep from each. What about national brands? Are there some key points to window quality? Any suggestions would be useful, thanks!

Marvin's seem to have a good reputation here, judging from past discussions. My brother has them--all wood. I have them, too--alum clad wood and wouldn't trade them for any other I've seen. Just make sure they're measured right, preferably by the person at the lumber yard placing the order, and who's therefore responsible for mistakes (reference to a recent thread on mixup in dimensions). Also, avoid custom sizes if you can.
