If anyone has experience with wine cellar refrigeration…I am considering installing a self-contained system (like Whisperair) and wonder what the drawbacks might be.

As the industry phases out R-410A due to environmental regulations, new refrigerant options—R-32 and R-454B—offer lower global warming potential, but the best choice depends on your technician's training and familiarity with these newer systems.

You might tend to drink more wine.
Is that supposed to be a drawback?

Well, I suppose the Kegmeister will get less use, so it might be a good thing. P.S.
Was offered tickets to the Rangers game Wednesday, but the DW has us going to Carnegie Hall that nite...aaargghh.
Hoping for a Sens-Rangers matchup.
You'd better hope real hard.
They're playin' like schlitz!

Sorry for hi-jacking your thread with all the jocularity.
I do know someone who is/has installed a similar system. I will inquire about any issues and post back.
Is that a package a/c unit, or a large wine refrigerator? I'm working with a cient who started off wanting a walk-in wine room, chilled to about 55*, but then they switched to a nicely finished room at ambient temp with a couple of large glass-front wine coolers.
In thier case, one problem was finding a location for the outside compressor unit, and the inside fan coil unit. And then the possible condensation issues with a cool humid room surrounded by ambient air.

it is a separate self-contained wine refrigeration unit that does not require HVAC certification to install.
