TWO WEEKS AGO I HAD A 20′ X 34′ CONCRETE FOUNDATION AND FOOTING POURED FOR MY NEW ADDITION TO MY HOME. THE WALLS ARE 8′ HIGH X 8″ WIDE REINFORCED. THE FOOTING IS TYPICAL 8″ X 16″ WITH ROD. I ALSO ADDED REINFORCING FIBER TO THE WALL MIX FOR ADDITIONAL STRENGTH. THE SLAB IS 4″ THICK, NO MESH, BUT REINFORCED FIBER ALSO ADDED WITH 2″ KEYWAY AROUND PERIMETER. I HAVE NOT YET BACKFILLED BUT HAVE COATED THE OUTSIDE WITH FOUNDATION CEMENT. MY QUESTIONS ARE: CAN I NOW LEAVE THIS FOUNDATION FOR THE WINTER THE WAY IT NOW SITS? DO I NEED TO BACKFILL BEFORE THE SNOW FLIES? MUST I CAP OFF THE FOUNDATION WITH THE FLOOR SYSTEM? PLEASE HELP! I HAVE GOTTEN VARIOUS OPINIONS ON THE SUBJECT AND NOW TIME IS RUNNING SHORT HERE IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. THANKS, JIM KAPLAN
