My lovely wife declared recently that she needed her own Carharts. I think this is super cool on many levels…. but, where do we find any? The thing is that she is also petite…. the 30″ men’s pair that she tried on were “way too baggy”. It seems that we could mail order some 28″ waist size ones, but if those don’t work, what do other lady’s wear that they are pleased with? Fit decent, are super durable and make passer’s by quake with awe at the implied hard-core-ness?
Any help greatly appreciated…

Beware. Had a lady electrician show up in bib fronts, without top or bra. A lot of work went undone. But not for a lack of supervision or attention. On the up side throughout the day she never lacked for help. Every time she leaned forward or up her... umm ... assets threatened to fall out the sides. Like people at a car race waiting for a wreck there were many anticipating this disaster, alas it never happened, with much relish.
Unfortunately she showed up on day two with a tee shirt obstructing the perspective. A lot more work got done but less fun was had.

Do not try this at home!

If your wife is petite try buying out of the childrens section. My wife bought a black artic jacket out of the childrens department an bass pro last year for $13.I bought the coat and icst me over $150
WOW 40-60% OFF !!! Half necked wimmen !!! Better than a Victoria Secret Catalogue?
http://www.sierratradingpost.com has some women's Carhartt's at 30-40% off. They also have Carhartt's T-shirts if you want to avoid the problem 4Lorn1 discusses.
Widely worn up here by both genders. Most often in bib style so you can toss the coat off warm you warm up or step inside. I use the overalls for snowblowing or a long cold trip (C-46, etc).

One problem with the heavier work clothes for women's use, at lest for me, is that they are too rough and stiff. They chafe tender skin!
I rather go thru two softer jackets than have one, still stiff after many washings, scratch me all day and last forever.
I do wish they made shirts/blouses for women out of something else than straight cotton. Men's have polyester in them and that makes them more wrinkle resistant and softer.
Good luck on the hunt for durable, soft and well fitting clothes for her.:-)
So I guess they won't be making Carhartt thongs in the 'duck' material, eh?

DW says that she will likely be wearing long-johns underneath anyhow, it gets cold up here in MN. Also, I should have specified that she is looking for jeans. I am still lobbying for overalls, as I don't know of anyone more appealing in overalls than my wife, but she stands firm that it's jeans that she wants.
I searched Sierra Trading, and SmartHunt.com to no avail. Also, clicking on the "Women's apparel" link on Carhartt.com returns a page "Search Returned No Results".
WHAT GIVES?
Any other brands to consider?
Yeah, sorry about that. I'm positive I've seen them in their (Sierra Trading Post) printed catalog in the last year, but I guess they sold out. (All those women getting ready to run the Iditarod, no doubt!). Our local work clothes shop has them for sure.

I assume they'd do mail order if you can't find something local. They also have kid's sizes.David Thomas Overlooking Cook Inlet in Kenai, Alaska
I use Wranglers with Lycra, that are softer than the 100% cotton ones and for cold weather insulated overpants from L.L.Bean, the ones with the zipper all the way up and down the leg. They are easy to take off, even with overshoes, when it get's warm in them and last well against barb wire and wlelding spots, so they should be ok as work pants for many other uses, I would think.
They also make really nice overall type pants in sky wear for women that may fit both of your interests in warm wear.:-)
They will last ok under working conditions, I think.
I just got stuff from Sierra to fit a 5'6 bombshell... They had it

Sierra Trading is - or used to be - a liquidator. Sometimes they just can get as many of an item as they could sell.
That's still what they do - overstocks, discontinued items, partial size runs, discontinued colors, etc. Bought from LLB, North Face, Carhartts, Patagonia, etc for pennies on the dollar. So if you see something you want, order it, because it might not be there next month.David Thomas Overlooking Cook Inlet in Kenai, Alaska
