I need to replace the wooden bulkhead doors to a basement. I know metal and fiberglass doors are available, but they won’t go with the 100 year old house they are on. I would like to know if there is certain type of wood to use and how to waterproof the doors so water won’t leak in around them. If anyone knows where I can get plans to build this project it would be very helpful. Thanks!

FHB had a good article on building wood bulkhead doors in issue 173 (September 2005), page 60 - 61.
Just looked at my Sept. 05 issue and thats just the ticket. I've been so busy I never even looked at the issue till now. Thanks!
Glad to be of assistance.
