This lock took 19 hrs. to make. Mostly White Oak. I am amazed how smooth this lock works.
I have some money in this one because I had to buy a couple forstner bits to make it. 2 1/8 and 1 7/8.

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

5-25-0 The shackle is cut out of a board, rounded over with router, then hand sanded until it slips in hole.
well it's a very nice job as usual :).

The shackel could be made stronger by cutting a slot and adding wood in the other direction (just at the fragile curved end)

I remember reading about wood locks in one of the Foxfire books, and thinking about making one. But they're nowhere near as complicated as that one.
The book I bought is so well written that it made it easy to make all five.
