OK, I have a good question for you. I think some of you vetern trim guys may be able to help me out with. I want to match an existing exterior door to a condo on the interior with the same 3/8 inch pine v groove that I am using on the interior walls. What are your thoughts on how to install this application to this metal door and will it affect the way the door is hinged? I do a lot of interior trim mainly with cabinet installations and crown mouldings but this one needs my attention now. PL from Vail

PL,
If you add 3/8" how does it effect the gain on the hinges?
Chuck S.
You are right it won't affect the hinges if they project into the room but the lockset will have to be changed. Have you ever tried a project like this?
You are gona have to change out the lock set.
OK so my question becomes are there custom locksets? This door is 1-3/4 which will now make it 2-1/8.
There are locksets made for 2 1/8" doors. You may be able to get an extension for the one you have.
Depending on the style that you are after you could use molding and make 3 or 4 frames and put the beadboard inside the frames.
That way you avoid the hinges and lockset.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
As Steven said, PL glue. You can get extensions for the lock set, a locksmith will be able to supply you with that.
Is the exterior of the door protected by something like an overhang or storm door? Pine doesn't do that well in an exterior application, no matter how much spar varnish or paint you slap on.
