Wood Embedded in Poured Concrete Foundation

Hello!
I am in the process of buying a home built in 1997. There is 1 issue that I would like some thoughts on.
1) What is the purpose of the wood that is embedded in the poured foundation concrete? Does it present any maintenance concers? When I did some googling, I came across this thread from a 1907 home:

My guess is it was left over from the forms they used to pour the foundation and it should not really be there.
Worst case is it is going to be a freeway for termites into your house.
I can't tell where the wood is in the photos.
I added an additional image where I circled the areas in Red.
More than likely it was used to push the dowels from the footer and rebar tied to it away from the form for clearance. Unless it was evenly spaced then it could be chamfer used as a control joint but that is always removed. Cant tell what size the wood is from the picture. 90% sure it was to move the rebar in.
Those are nailers. They were put there so something could be installed over the concrete and nailed to them. If you dig one out it will be tapered to hold it in place.
